Overview and System Location:
The Morris Farm Community Solar Farm will be on Gardiner Road in Wiscasset, Maine. The solar array will be installed on the site of former mobile home at the north end of the Morris Farm property, and interconnected to an existing CMP service on Gardiner Road.
About the Morris Farm Trust
The Morris Farm Trust, a working farm and educational resource for the communities of midcoast Maine, promotes the values of sustainable agriculture and stewardship of the earth through education, demonstration and community involvement.

When Morris Farm went up for sale in 1994, local community members formed The Morris Farm Trust and ultimately purchased the farm. In 2011 the farm became a “Mane Farmland Trust Forever Farm” through agricultural easements, therefore securing the farm and land for future generations.
With its mission of caring for the community and the earth for future generations, The Morris Farm is a natural fit for a Community Solar Farm. Working with ReVision Energy of Liberty, Maine, the Trust plans to build a 40 to 50 kW array located on a small plot of pasture. Shares can then be purchased by both households and businesses to offset their electrical usage.
System Design:
The proposed solar farm has a minimum size of 40 kW and a maximum size of 51 kW. The solar system will consist of between 132 to 165 Renesola 310W 156 Series polycrystalline solar modules mounted using a Schletter FS driven pile ground mounting system.
The modules are wired together in a series and parallel configuration and then interconnected to the utility grid through SMA TL grid tied inverters (note 1). The array performance will be monitored by SolarLog utility grade meter system which provides access to real time system performance to members, and facilitates the sale of Renewable Energy Credits.

At this nearly ideal solar site and with the benefit of effective convective module cooling from the ground mounted system, the Morris Farm Community solar farm is expected to produce 1,250 kwhr per kW on average through the year. This Community Solar Farm is being initially offered to those in the Morris Farm community, but membership may be opened to others in the community pending initial enrollment.
